Ronna & Beverly!

Tonight after work we are going to another Ronna & Beverly show at UCB. ‘Ronna & Beverly’ is a live chat show hosted by America’s favorite fifty-something Jewish mothers (played by thirty-somethings Jessica Chaffin and Jamie Denbo). Tonight's guests are Mark Feuerstein of the USA TV show Royal Pains & Ben Schwartz of Showtimes House of Lies. Should be a very funny show!

Working my regular shifts on Saturday & Sunday. I get to sleep in tomorrow YAY! Last Saturday I worked an early shift to be able to go to a show Saturday night. So I am really looking forward to relaxing with Billy Elliot and Lily tomorrow before work. We have heated up to the 90's now so there is no going back it is Summer full steam ahead and in the valley where I live it is about 10 degrees hotter than on the Westside which is West LA, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and all the beach areas. Even Hollywood which is just over the hill from my house 6 miles away is cooler. But living in the valleys are much more rural. My sister lives in West Hollywood which is cool but oh the traffic and congestion is too much for me. Have a great weekend.

Happy Hump Day!

Where did the week go? It is Wednesday already. It has been a very busy week so far. Last night we went to our weekly show Doug Loves Movies. 3 of my favorite comedians were on with Chet who won a spot at the table with them via a charity. He was a big fan of the show via podcast and when Doug comes to his town! It was a fun show. Next Tuesday Doug will be out of town so there will not be a show.

Tonight I am getting my haircut and tomorrow my nails. The girl that does my pedicure is still gone after having her baby so until she comes back my appointments are still every other week but not on Monday's for now. I will probably swing by the kids house afterwards. I am excited for next week it is my Birthday Tuesday the 3rd, and then off on July 4th the kids are having a BBQ and I have a 3 day weekend which we are going to Catalina Island for 2 days! The whole family Lisa, Paul, Natasha, Justin and Chris (other grandma) I can't wait!

Happy Monday

The first weekend of Summer we had very mild here temps but on Saturday we had the Solstice Supermoon. It was hard taking a good picture but this one makes it look electric!

Our show Saturday night was fun and we heard that Jane Fonda might be doing the improv show as a guest real soon. She was in a movie with Ben Schwartz and he had talked Helen Hunt, Michael C Hall, JJ Abrams and Don Cheadle into trying improv for the first time. I sure hope we get tickets for that show. They sell out in minutes and by the way they are only $5 which all the money goes to the school at Upright Citizens Brigade. The Upright Citizens Brigade Improvisational and Sketch Comedy Training Center is the only accredited improv and sketch comedy school in the country. Their trained faculty represents the best writers and performers working in comedy today. Over the last 15 years, the Upright Citizens Brigade (Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts and Matt Walsh) have developed a unique unified curriculum that is constantly updated and improved by the best improvisers in the world. Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre has affordable and some free, comedy shows seven nights a week in NYC and LA. Watch the best improv, sketch and standup in the country.

Sunday I worked and after work Lisa, Paul & I went to dinner and then to see World war Z and we liked it a lot.

Tonight is the next installment of Doug Benson’s Movie Interruption, where Doug and his friends chill on the front row couches, mics in hand, and say whatever hilarious thing pops into their heads while a movie of their choosing unfolds on the screen. This time, Doug & Co. tackle one of their all-time favorites: 1991′s Point Break! Director. Katherine Bigelow

Shouldn't Complain!

Tuesday was a fun Doug Loves Movies 3 of my favorites were there Zach Galifinakis, Riki Lindholm & Samm Levine. Both Zach and Samm were back because they won the "Leonard Maltin Game" Samm is still the reining winner and will be back again.Comedian Doug Benson's podcast "Doug Loves Movies" features a segment called The Leonard Maltin Game, in which the guest must guess the name of a movie based on a subset of the cast list in reverse order and a few intentionally vague clues from the capsule review of the movie in Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide. Maltin appeared on the podcast in February 2010 and played the game himself. He appeared on the show again in August 2010. In November 2010 Benson and Maltin played the game on Kevin Pollak's Chat Show. Maltin has repeated his appearances on Doug Loves Movies in September 2011 with Jimmy Pardo and Samm Levine, and in September 2012 with Chris Evans and Adam Scott.

As much as I complained about them cutting my hours at the Hospital which now I have Friday's off I am working tonight because I took off Sunday and asked if  I could make up the hours by working Friday. Now I am complaining because I started to really like Friday's off  BUT I shouldn't complain that I am making the hours up I took off last weekend.  So it is back to back jobs today and tomorrow I am working an earlier shift 10:30-7  because we have a monthly improv show at UCB Theater called SNOWPANTS Ben Schwartz usually has either movie or TV actors as his fellow improvisation actors. This is a really fun show. The show is at 10:00 and we will grab a bite before it and makes sure we are in line a good hour before the show to get our prime front row seats. Have a great weekend!

Happy Tuesday!

It was great having two days off like a normal person who has weekends off. Sunday was fun we went to the Movie Interruption of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade I must say the 1989 movie does not hold up over time. The special effects were pretty hokey and the dialogue was pretty corny but it was a fun interruption and it was interupted by Doug Benson the host and guests Paul F Tompkins, Anthony Jeselnik and Zach Galifiankis.

We had dinner afterwards at Canter's Deli. I had  a 1/2 corned beef on rye and potato salad.

Sunday after the show I watched a couple of Netflix DVD's Gangster Squad which I thought was horrible! Sean Penn they made him up to look I guess like the mobster Mickey Cohen and it was comical looking. Two thumbs down for that. The second DVD was The Words which I really enjoyed with Bradley Cooper.

Monday Lisa, Tiffany & I went to lunch at Granada's Mexican Restaurant in Burbank. This restaurant was there for years and closed down a couple years ago the owners felt it was time. So the employees that worked there for years bought it and reopened it a year later. I had a chicken taco and cheese enchilada. It was delicious. After lunch Paul sent over one of his plumbers to install a new kitchen sink faucet that quite by surprise last week. I turned on and it spayed my whole kitchen. Just like that no warning, it just went out. I was very lucky that they had an opening for me early in the afternoon. So all fixed now! But my vacuum also went out last week the same day I believe as my kitchen faucet. I took it in and the motor is shot so I will have to get a new vacuum some night this week at Best Buy. I saw one that looked the same as my Hoover for a little over $100.

Special Edition: Doug Benson's Movie Interruption

I am off tonight which is part of the cut back in hours at the Hospital. I work tomorrow but I took off Sunday for a show we have in the afternoon and I took  Monday off originally like I said in my last post because I had my annual physical and blood work appointment in the morning, they called to reschedule it so I have a free day. I am not sure what I will do yet? But tonight after work I am getting my nails done the girl that does my toes had her baby earlier than they expected so her hubby who does my nails had to scramble and get someone in there to cover her and they couldn't find anyone for Monday which is my normal standing appointment so we are doing it tonight even better that completely frees up my Monday off. Last night Joe and I saw "This is the End" written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and we loved it!! Very funny! So many end of the world movies coming out this Summer most more serious than this one.

Sunday which is also Father's Day, Joe and I are going to a very special edition of Doug Benson's Movie Interruption at the Cinefamily Theater in Hollywood. The next installment of Doug Benson’s Movie Interruption, where Doug and his friends (who, in the past, have included everyone from Jon Hamm to Sarah Silverman, Zach Galifianakis, Ben Schwartz, Patton Oswalt & Ed Helms) chill on the front row couches, mics in hand, and say whatever hilarious thing pops into their heads while a movie of their choosing unfolds on the screen. For Father’s Day, Doug &Co. tackle one of their favorite father-son team-ups: 1989′s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

This should be a fun show for sure. We will have dinner at Canter's Deli afterwards since it is right down the street. I love Canter's and usually pick up stuff at their deli and bakery to take home. Have a great weekend all.

Happy Humpday!

I can't believe it is Wednesday already? This week is flying by and I am very happy because I have 2 days off Sunday for a very special Father's Day Movie Interruption in the afternoon and Monday I was suppose to have my yearly exam but they called and cancelled  the Dr is going to be gone a few days so I rescheduled for Monday August 19th. I had to change my lab appointment also. I always make it 2 hours after the Dr's appointment so I can get it all done in one shot. So now I have a whole free day on Monday!

Last night at Doug Loves movies 3 of our favorite actor/comedians were there. Zack Galifianakis, Sarah Silverman & Rory Scovel.

Dinner at Birds CafĂ© we shared a tower of Beer battered onion rings with 3 dipping sauces.

Fun + awkward = fawkward!

My weekend was great. I had my Friday night off and met the kids for dinner at Don Cuco's Mexican Restaurant in Burbank. I had Shrmp Fajitas and they were delicious as you can see below!

Saturday and Sunday I worked but after work Sunday Chris and I went to a play at the Falcon Theater. "A Midsummer Saturday Night's Fever Dream" How Deep Is Your Love for the Troubies?! We joined them as they dug down to their roots and dusted off their fairy wings, tights and white disco suits to re-imagine Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The star-crossed lovers steam and scheme, and the Bard‘s most famous fairy, Puck, will be Jive Talkin’ as this assorted band of merrymakers heats up into a Disco Inferno. The Night Fevers will break 104 and make you sweat, so don your halter tops and Boogie Shoes and let the Troubies melt your hearts. Feeling the fever already? Take A Fifth of Beethoven and call me in the morning! The Troubies are a fun theater group of musicians, singers, performers and writers that are dedicated to the resonstruction of theater as we know it. We have season tickets every year at the Falcon and the Troubies usually have at least 2 shows during the season and this one was a really fun one!

Tonight we are going to see Doug Benson (Doug Loves Movies, Movie Interruption) and some special surprise guests who don't mind being interrupted while trying to tell their jokes. Fun + awkward = fawkward! This is the same concept as the Movie Interruption's we go to at the Cinefamily Theater. Tonight this is at Meltdown Comics on Sunset Blvd at the Nerdist Theater. We usually grab a bite across the street at the famous Sunset Grill that Don Henly of the Eagles made famous. I found this live verison of it from 1985 at Farm Aid.

Star Studded Show!

We had a wonderful surprise at Doug Loves Movies podcast show last night! One of my favorite people was there to promote his new movie with his partner "This Is The End", the following actors all playing themselves in the move Jonah Hill, James Franco, Channing Tatum, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Michael Cera, Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, Craig Robinson, Rihanna, Martin Starr, Mindy Kaling, David Krumholtz & Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Seth Rogen and his partner Evan Goldberg wrote, produced and directed this movie as they did Knocked Up, Superbad, Pineapple Express, Green Hornet, Funny People and 50/50, if you have never seen 50/50 it is a must see it stars Seth Rogen & Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Also on the show they had 2 kids from a new coming of age movie called "Kings of Summer" that I am also really looking forward to! Next week we are going to see This is the End the day it comes out!

Doug Benson, Evan Goldberg & Seth Rogen

Evan Goldberg, & Seth Rogen (This is the End) Moises  Arias (Kings of Summer)
Moises Arias & Nick Robinson (Kings of Summer) Martin Starr (This is the End)

Here are the trailers of the two movies. I love Summer all the best movies come out!

The comedy This Is The End follows six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside. Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.

Three teenage friends, in the ultimate act of independence, decide to spend their summer building a house in the woods and living off the land.

Happy Hump Day!!

Cha Cha Changes.....

I believe my biggest weakness is that I fight change. It is just the way I am I guess. I know change is good. I can adapt to change but I just hate it at first! Well there are a lot more changes at the hospital on the horizon I found out over the weekend. Besides not being able to work more than 20 hours a week and loosing my Friday's which comes to about $400 a month less, they are going to make the full time people work on rotating weekends. Most of the full timers only work Monday-Friday. I am sure they are not going to be very happy! So I saw a sneak peak of how the rotation will go. Each of our schedules are for 2 weeks Sunday-Sunday. I saw where one whole schedule I will work Saturday and Sunday 8-4:30 for 2 weeks then they have me 10:30-7 Sunday and Saturday 3:30-12. for 2 weeks. At first I was upset then I started thinking about it, hey working 8-4:30 will free me up to go to movies, dinner and shows. The other rotation will give me my Saturday's which I love to sleep in and go out or just hang at home until 3:30. Not wild about the Sunday 10:30-7 but it will only be for 2 weeks and then I will be back on the 8-4:30 rotation. I am really not sure how this is all going to work and I think it probably won't work but I am ready for it. And I will enjoy working less hours for the time being. I hope that this won't be permanent since I am going to have to budget myself for that money loss. If Tiffany decides to stay for awhile that might be an option to make up the money loss. I know everything always works out and usually for the better in my experience.

This is going to be a really easy week. Only working the one job all week and we only have Tuesday night Doug Loves Movies at Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. I am free everynight after work until I go to work at the Hospital on Saturday at 3:30!
