Meet Layla Lowenthal

We picked Layla up at around noon on Sunday. I met her Mom and siblings. She had her first batch of vaccinations and seemed a little tired. She slept off and on all day. Of course around 10:00 PM she started getting feisty. Lily was very scared of her at first but this morning when I left Lily was hovering around her which is a good thing. I have had cats all my life and most cats have no problems welcoming new cats into the fold. Lily is a little different than most the cats I have ever had and she never even bonded with Billy Elliott but I can tell she will with Layla. She is intrigued by her. She I am sure has no idea what this little ball of fur is. Layla is the tinest kitty I have ever adopted so far. She was born August 12th so she is just 7 weeks old. It was so hard leaving her this morning but she knows where her little box is and her food and my bed! I watched her climb on to it before I left which made me feel better leaving her.

Layla, you got me on my knees...

Happy Friday all!! I am so excited I get to pick up Layla on Sunday! Yes I am naming her Layla after the great Eric Clapton song of his love actually for Patti Boyd who was at the time married to the Beatles George Harrison. I have always loved that song and I think she will bring me to my knees she is so darn cute!

Tonight I am going to meet the kids for dinner at Don Cuco's Mexican Restaurant our Friday ritual now that I am not working Friday nights anymore. Tomorrow working my regular schedule. Sunday off to pick up my baby! Be prepared for a barrage of pictures :)

Proud Mama

It is has been a pretty quiet week for me. I got my nails done after work on Monday and Tuesday after work just hung out at home with Lily. Tonight Lisa and I are going to Costco. I need a few things that I like getting in bulk like toilet paper, trash bags, paper plates etc. I just ran out of the case of trash bags and I got them 3 years ago. Toilet paper lasts me about 5-6 months only.  I love Costco for those kind of things. And if you eat meat I love their Filet Migon's I get a few packs and individual  wrap them and freeze them. I use my George Foreman grill to grill them. After Costco we will have dinner and watch Survivor.

Emily is the girl that has my kitty and she sends me pictures via text. Here is my kitties Mama who is not even a year old. She is a very young Mama and she was a rescue that was pregnant. She will be fixed in the next few weeks and she is up for adoption also. I was pretty surprised that none of the kitties look like her at all. The other picture below is of my kitty with 2 of her siblings in a cowboy hat.

I love how my baby has her arm up over that cowboy hat. Now those 2 kitties look alike. There is also an all black kitty not in this picture. I hope I am not boring people with my pictures. It has kept my mind off the pain I feel over loosing my beloved Billy Elliott. My house feels so different with him not in it. I still think I see him or feel him jumping up on my bed. I love this quote. "I love cats because I love my home and after a while they become its visible soul"~Jean Cocteau

Piles of Kitties

Friday night a bunch of us went to Don Cuco's Mexican restaurant and had dinner. After dinner we went to see Prisoners and I loved it, it is a "Dru Movie" for sure. Dark, gritty and scary. Saturday I got my yearly blood work done and then went to my dentist for a check up and cleaning. My teeth are perfect no cavities! And then went to work the late shift at the hospital. On Sunday I worked 10-6:30 and after work went over to the kids house for a BBQ and to watch the Emmy's it was on here at 5:00 since it is live and airing back east at 8:00. There we a lot of nice surprises not the same shows or people winning over and over time an again.

Emily posted a picture of the kitties she is fostering and the title was "Piles of Kitties" you can see my baby at the very end on the bottom with the white paws. She also texted me a picture of her on the dog bed with a doggie toy.  And her eating wet food for the very first time. I am so excited to get her next week!

Friday Finally!

I am so happy this week is over! It was a rough week but I made it! Tonight I am meeting Joe and the kids at Don Cuco's Mexican Restaurant and then we are going to see that new movie that looks so good called Prisoners with Hugh  Jackman,  Jake Gyllenhaal, Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, Viola Davis & Melissa Leo.  I am working Saturday & Sunday. Tomorrow I will get my blood work and then got to my dentist for my 6 month cleaning and check up. Then work at 3:30-12. Sunday I am working a later shift 10-6:30 and the Emmy's are on beginning at 5:00 PST. Red Carpet at 3:00. I will watch at work and finish watching when I get home. Here is another picture of my new baby. Have a great weekend!

Change.....

I have good days and bad days since Billy has been gone. It has only been since Friday  4 days. I was suppose to go to my weekly show in Hollywood tonight after work "Doug Loves Movies" and I was dreading it all day today. I am just not in the right frame of mind yet I guess? I think I need a little more time? So Lisa invited me over for a BBQ tonight and I am going to go over there for dinner after I stop home and check on Lily. Tiffany moved out on Sunday making it  a double whammy. I miss her also. Even though we didn't see a lot of each other she was there every night after she got off work and when I got ready for work in the morning I knew she was there. The house feels so empty and Lily is feeling it too. It is just all about change!

On a brighter note I am really looking forward to my new kitty in a little less than 2 weeks now. I have to do some kitty shopping this weekend. Since I have a 2 story place and I spend more time upstairs so do my cats so I will get a little cat box and put it upstairs and I feed my new kitties up there also and I will need kitty food instead of the food I feed Lily. A new collar of course and a tag. Even though they are indoors I do that in case of any emergencies that could happen and they somehow got out. I am really excited about her! And thank you all for the name suggestions on Facebook. I have a few in mind that were suggested but will wait until I bring her home and get a feel which name will fit her. The names I am thinking about are Lola suggested by Joe, Darylynn and Jessica. Rosie suggested by Denise and Lucy which I thought might be cute too?

Moving On!

I had a rough Sunday Billy isn't doing to well. He was fine on Saturday but Sunday he was not himself. He is not eating very much but still some. I also noticed he was distancing himself from me also. He just stayed downstairs. I talked to Kim this morning and she made me feel a little better. He just might of had a bad day Cancer can do that to you. This morning he seemed a little better he came up and jumped on my bed while I got ready for work. Tiffany is still at my house so she checked up on him for me and she said he was still in my bedroom in the afternoon. Tiffany moves to her new place on Sunday in Long Beach. I will miss her for sure. It was nice to have her back the last couple of months and things just did not work out with Justin they tried several times and it just isn't good anymore. Makes me sad. But she needs to move on with her life. I know Billy and Lily will miss her being around during the day since she worked evenings.  I am not going out at all this week after work. I need to keep an eye on Billy I couldn't enjoy myself worrying about him anyway. If I make plans it will have to be after I go home first then go out afterwards.

Icon Doing Improv

I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend! Mine was a working weekend but it was a very good one anyway! Saturday night my dream came true Jane Fonda finally showed up as the surprise guest on the improv show that Ben Schwartz has at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater usually once a month on Saturday nights called SNOWPANTS. Ben is in a movie with Jane Fonda and while they were shooting it he told her about his long  running improv show that he has and that stars like Helen Hunt, Don Cheadle & Michael C Hall have tried their hand at improv. She was great!! It was a whole lot of fun!

I worked the early shift Saturday and Sunday 7:30-4 so it made it nice for me to be able to go out after work and on Sunday Chris and I went out to dinner at a Greek Mediterranean place near the AMC 16 Theaters in Burbank andwe went  to see We're The Millers that movie was hysterical. A big 2 thumbs up!  Monday I worked 3:30-12 so I was able to get a little relaxing in before work. But boy am I tired today after getting off at midnight! Billy Elliot is holding his own other than being a skinnier cat he seems fine. He is eating, drinking, purring and even playing a little bit with Lily. So all is good for now!
