Happy Halloween!!!

The Back in Time Meme

1.  What games were popular with you as a child? Monopoly but I never liked playing games and still don't. Any TV program that you looked forward to? I Love Lucy, Tonight Show, Life of Riley, Oh Susanna, December Bride, Father Knows Best, Ozzie & Harriet Show, George Burns & Gracie Allen Show, Lassie, Ed Sullivan, Ann Southern Show to name just a few. I was always a TV buff!

2. What subject rocked your world in school? History and my teacher in Junior High was Sir Richard Attenborough's cousin, he made it so interesting!

3. What subject did you really dislike, if any. Why? Algebra, I didn't get it!

4. What did you want to be when you grew up?  Did it happen? Well back in the day we just thought as women we would grow up and get married and have kids. The aspirations I had I guess were to be an actress or psychologist. Didn't happen.

5. Do you still keep in touch with old friends from school days? Yes my closest friends Wendy and Debbie. Debbie works with me at the Hospital we have known each other since we were 13 years old.

6. If you could turn back the hands of time, would you go back in time? No!!!!!!

7. What did you consider a good time when  you were a teen? Going to Hollywood on my boyfriends motorcycle and going to the famous Whiskey A Go Go.

8. What or who influenced you most from your younger  years? Why? I guess TV did in a way but of course it was not a realistic view of life. My family and friends did. A day doesn't go by that I don't remember something that was said by a friend or family or that we did together.

Thanks Annie for the great meme. Yay Survivor tonight. I am going to watch at home. I was out every night this week and want to relax at home and watch instead of going to the kids house. Tomorrow night I will go to the kids for Halloween. As I posted before Lisa & Paul go all out for Halloween.

And of course a few pictures of Layla & Lily

Comedy Nerds

Tonight after work Joe and I have a show at the Nerdist Theater on Sunset in Hollywood. If any of you watch the Talking Dead after the Walking Dead the host Chris Hardwick is the owner of the Nerdist Theater that is in the Meltdown Comic Book store. In the "Benson Interruption" instead of interrupting movies he interrupts comedians that come up, usually they are a surprise but I heard two that will be there tonight which are Zach Gallifinakis & TJ Miller the rest will be a surprise. We will have dinner before the show at El Compadre Mexican Restaurant. This restaurant has been there since I was a kid. We use to go there when we lived off Melrose Blvd in the 50's.

And of course a few pictures of Layla & Lily. She is 11 weeks old today.

She is really a very sweet kitty but I am afraid she is going to be wild like Lily was and still is. She is so hyperactive just like Lily is and was as a kitty. Billy Elliott was playful as a kitty but much calmer and mild mannered than these two.

To Post or Not to Post?

I am having a hard time posting again. I don't know why either? But here it goes. I had a pretty uneventful weekend. Friday went to dinner with the kids before they headed to Denver, CO for another convention. They were only home 2 days from Atlanta before they had to head back out again. This time Justin went and Paul stayed behind. Their business is booming I am very happy for them. If it booms enough one day I just might be working for them and can get rid of my 2 jobs. Well anyway in 2 years 9 months I am retiring from my full time job that is for sure. And maybe then I can go to work in the family business and leave the Hospital. When I retire 7/3/16 I will be able to work as much as I want and not get dinged. It is considered my full retirement. I never want to get old so fast except when I was a kid!

Tonight is my nail appointment and tomorrow night we have our weekly Doug Loves Movies at the Upright Citizns Brigade Theater in Hollywood. Thursday starts our new season of plays at The Falcon Theater in Toluca Lake known for the city Bob Hope lived until is passed away. The play we are seeing is The Mystery of Irma Vep, a penny dreadful. It was named one of the best plays of 1984 by The New York Times, this ridiculous romp begins on a dark and stormy night when Lady Enid and her new husband arrive at a haunted estate. The laughs erupt as a mystery unfolds in this side-splitting spoof of horror movies, classic literature, Victorian melodrama and the conventions of theater itself, complete with werewolves, vampires, mummies and damsels in distress. It sounds good to me. I am sure we will  love it.

When I took Layla in on Friday night for her vaccinations they weighed her and she is 1 1/2 lbs now.  She was not a happy camper at all. That little fur ball cried like someone was killing her all the way there and back. No fun to be driving when you have a frantic pet in the car with you. I decided her final vaccinations she will wait and get when she is neutered in Dec. Emily who I adopted her from that works there said that is probably a good idea to do it all in Dec.

She was not a happy camper at all at the Vet's

Happy to be back home!

Happy Hump Day!

I have tried to blog several times but just couldn't get into it for some reason? Not much going on with me. I guess that could be a good thing!?! Layla has a bad habit now of waking me up at about 3:00 AM and wanting to play. She starts walking up and down on my body and bites my hands and toes. One thing I know when I take her in Friday night for he second round of vaccinations I will have them cut her nails they are like needles! Emily who I adopted her from works at a vet in Echo Park which is not that far from me about a 15 minute freeway drive, they are really reasonable and their hours are 8-10 PM Mon-Sat and Sunday 9-5 so convenient. I will take her there from now on and Lily too. Tonight I am getting a haircut I was way overdue. I usually go to the kids house afterwards since they are just down the street from the salon I go to but they will just be getting back tonight from their Atlanta, GA conventions for their 777eCigs business. They turn right back around on Sunday and head to Denver, CO for another one. Justin stayed behind and now Paul will stay behind. I will probably meet up with them on Friday for dinner at Don Cuco Mexican Restaurant.

They are best buddies now!

Happy Thursday & Friday!

I am kind of excited because this weekend I am working the graveyard shift at the Hospital 12-8AM. Debbie my friend that works the graveyard shift went out of town for the weekend. So I requested working her hours. I don't do well sleep wise when I work this shift I have a hard time sleeping in the day. But I love working those hours. The plan is to watch Jerry Seinfeld's internet show called "Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee" I have watched a few episodes and it is hysterical. I just don't find the time at home with all the TV shows that get recorded in my DVR and everything else going on.

Saturday after I get some sleep Joe and I are meeting up for an early dinner at El Coyote Mexican Restaurant in Hollywood and after dinner we are going to the New Beverly Cinema which is owned by Quentin Tarantino. The New Beverly Cinema is a historic movie theater located in Los Angeles. Housed in a building which dates to the 1920s, it is one of the oldest revival houses in the region. The building began life as a vaudeville theater, hosting acts such as Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Jackie Gleason, Phil Silvers, and others. Later, the theater was converted into a nightclub called Slapsy Maxie's, named after the boxer and silent film actor Maxie Rosenbloom. In the late 1950s, the space was converted into a movie theater, with several incarnations. These include: The New Yorker Theater, the Europa (specializing in foreign films), the Eros (pornographic films) and finally the Beverly Cinema, a grindhouse which incorporated live nude dancing. In December 2007, to save the property from redevelopment, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino bought the building that houses the New Beverly Cinema, effectively making him the theater's landlord.. Tarantino was quoted as saying "As long as I'm alive, and as long as I'm rich, the New Beverly will be there, showing double features in 35mm. They have really neat old movies and many times guests that either are in the movie or are introducing a movie that they love are there. Saturday actor/comedian Patton Oswalt  will be sitting at the stage pre-show to discuss the films with us. The movie we are seeing is The Late Show  1977 Written and directed by Robert Benton; starring Art Carney, Lily Tomlin, Bill Macy, Eugene Roche, Joanna Cassidy, John Considine. The double feature is Night Moves from 1975 but I will need to get home and get a few hours of sleep before I go to work at 12:00. So we will be seeing only one movie.

Sunday we have plans to see a fun show we see every month at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, Hot Sauce Something Fresh at 9:30. This is a very fun improv show we love and never miss. Have a great weekend ahead. Here are a few pictures of Layla & Lily. She is 8 weeks old now. She still seems really tiny to me. She is a little ham and poses pretty good for pictures when she isn't flying around the house.

Almost Friday...

This week was a fast one it is almost Friday! Little Layla and Lily are friends now it only took 3 days. Layla was the hold out. Lily has always been an overactive kitty so this little bundle of fun is the best thing that ever happened to her. They are flying around like crazy! Billy Elliot was almost 10 years old when I brought Lily home and not very playful. Joe is coming over tonight to meet Layla. We will go to dinner afterwards at Tallyrand. Here are a few pictures.

It has been such a joy all week. She is like a little baby so when it is time for lights out and time for  me to go to sleep she cuddles up in between me and my pillows on my bed. She has woken up each night around 4:00 AM and she cries so I take her to the cat box and she does her business and scurries back on the bed and goes back to sleep until I get up at 6:00. Lily is also sleeping on the bed next to me and her.

Tommorow night we are going to our new Friday night hang out. Don Cuco's Mexican Restaurant for dinner. I am actually running over to the hospital to get my free flu shot right after work first. We are also thinking about going to the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride after dinner. We had so much fun last year. The Story- Haunted Hayride- The In Between- Purgatory The folklore and legend of "the real" births more terror than any horror mastermind can fabricate. The grounds of Griffith Park and beyond have been home to murder, torture, paranormal activity, serial killers, and abduction. The area surrounding the "Old Zoo" and "B Rock" has been called one of the most paranormally active sites in all of California. Now these and other actual events will come back to life, opening the portal to a river of lost souls that scream for revelation. They are dark. They are vicious. They are all around you.Tonight, we call on the haunting s of the real terror in history to rise from the darkest corners of hell to take possession OF YOU! Welcome to the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride 2013: "Based On Actual Events"!

I am off on Saturday. I have my yearly mammogram at 12:00 then I am meeting the girls in Arcadia at Pepper's Mexican Restaurant for lunch. We have not seen each other since the end of January. Time got away from us. Barb & Gina are two gals I worked with for over 10 years. We have kept in touch ever since our office in Pasadena shut down in 2000. That was the best job I have ever had. I guess I am lucky to be able to say that about at least one my of jobs. Sunday working 10:30-7.no plans afterwards. I will relax at home with Lily and Layla. Have a great Thursday and weekend!
